Our vineyards
All our wines are stored in oak barrels for a better ageing process. Our cellar welcomes tourists all year round for tastings. During the summer, we open a stand at the house of Gascony in Auch.
our history
Located in the heart of Gascony, in the Gers (between Auch and Lectoure), Domaine de la Higuère is a 200-year-old estate belonging to the Esquiro family.
In the small village of Mirepoix, cradle of the De Batz family (better known as d'Artagnan, protagonist from The Three Musketeers), we have produced and sold our wine from generation to generation.
Our vineyards are planted all around the estate to avoid too much transport, brewing and oxidation of grape musts. There are different grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannât, Malbec and Gamay. Our soils are mainly limestone clay with a few boulbènes.
The ideal climate for making red wines, similar to the Bordeaux climate, is mild and humid with an oceanic influence.
